On Wednesday, rumors were swirling in the progressive political space that President Trump would soon take action targeting Democrats’ largest fundraising software provider, ActBlue. In the span of just a few hours, I had three friends text me asking me if I had heard anything about what could be coming down the pike. I was initially dismissive of people’s concerns and chalked the rumors up to internet Lefties being overly dramatic. By the evening, word of a potential Trump executive order attacking the payment processor had reached a fever pitch. ActBlue’s CEO, Regina Wallace-Jones, responded to the chatter in a mass email to allies and partners.

“We are ready for whatever is next from the Far Right,” Wallace-Jones wrote.

Then, this morning, it finally happened. POLITICO broke the news that Trump would sign a “presidential memorandum” today expected “to specifically target ActBlue.”
